THE DISCIPLES OF MARKOS

The Disciples of Markos play Greek Rebetika in the style of Markos Vamvakaris, the legendary songwriter, singer and the heaviest, most stoned-out bouzouki player of the 1930s, as well as his contemporaries such as Delias, Batis, Peristeris, Hatzichristos, Tsitsanis, Roza Eskanazi, Rita Abatzi and others.
The Disciples of Markos are based in Oakland, California, and since 2004 they have been dedicated to sharing the beautiful songs and bouzouki stylings of the Golden Age of Rebetika.
